What
is Chesconet?
Chesconet is a
diversified non-profit organization that provides wide-area network
connectivity, including Internet access, to more than fifty regional schools,
libraries, government entities, non-profit organizations, and businesses.
Chesconet is governed by a Board of Directors and is
operated under contract by the
Chester County Intermediate Unit. Chesconet is funded by members through
annual contributions.
To provide high-speed
connectivity, this cost-effective model was built upon a consortium of new and
existing networks. Through partnerships with the
County of Chester, Yipes,
Cogent,
Cisco,
and Sunesys, the benefits
of wide-area networks have been delivered, supported, and paid for by
participating members. Chesconet demonstrates the capability of today's
technology to provide affordable and usable high-speed connectivity to it's
members.
